  1. RBI Slashes Rates for First Time in Nearly Five Years, Lowers Growth Projection

In a landmark decision, the Reserve Bank of India has slashed the repo rate by 25 basis points to 6.25%, its first rate cut in nearly five years.

Sanjay Malhotra, RBI governor in his maiden policy announcement said the MPC agreed in unison with the cut as it moves to boost economic growth in view of easing inflation. The central bank also downgraded its growth projection for FY26 to 6.7%, citing geopolitical tensions, trade restrictions, and volatility in the financial market as headwinds.

Governor Malhotra emphasized that inflationary pressures have moderated, creating room for this policy adjustment. However, he cautioned that India’s economic expansion is expected to remain below last year’s levels.

The GDP outlook for the first quarter of FY26 was revised to 6.7% from 6.9%, while growth for Q2 was lowered to 7% from 7.3%. Both Q3 and Q4 projections stand at 6.5%.

It fits analysts’ expectations that RBI would act on slowing economic momentum and liquidity constrains.

  1. Zomato Rebrands to ‘Eternal’, Social Media Divided Over the New Name

The food delivery company, Zomato, announced that it will now be branded as Eternal Ltd as its officially designated company name. The development, according to CEO Deepinder Goyal, will reflect how the company operates outside of a single food-delivery business.

However, the Zomato brand and the app will remain the same, thus not disrupting users’ continuity.

Goyal added that rebranding was internal since the acquisition of Blinkit; expanding to grocery, logistics, and cloud kitchens called for such a move. Eternal Ltd will now house Zomato, Blinkit, District, and Hyperpure.

Renaming has resulted in mixed feelings on social media, as some users relish memories of Zomato, while others pointed out that this was not a change required to be done.

The change is subject to approval from shareholders and the regulatory bodies.

She described Thandel as an ‘extraordinary’ love story, expressing excitement for audiences to experience it. The film, which stars Sai Pallavi opposite Chaitanya, is based on a true incident from 2018, where fishermen from Srikakulam, Andhra Pradesh, inadvertently drifted into Pakistani waters and were detained.

Fans are eagerly anticipating how the film will do on the box office, considering how much it feels like a ‘real-life inspiration’ and deeply emotional.
