Prime Minister Narendra Modi opened the Vantara animal rescue and rehabilitation centre at Jamnagar on Sunday, emphasizing its purpose in wildlife preservation. During his three-day stay in Gujarat, the Prime Minister praised Anant Ambani and his team for their “caring efforts” in creating a sanctuary that hosts more than 2,000 species and rehabilitates over 1.5 lakh rescued animals.
During his tour, PM Modi himself met with rehabilitated animals, seeing the centre’s state-of-the-art veterinary facilities firsthand, including MRI and CT scans, intensive care units, and specialized departments like cardiology and dentistry. He watched as an Asiatic lion had an MRI and a leopard received life-saving surgery.
The Prime Minister also interacted with Asiatic and White Lion cubs, feeding them playfully and even high-fiving one of the lions. Vantara is an endangered species sanctuary that houses Clouded Leopard cubs and Caracals, the latter of which are on a conservation breeding program for reintroduction into the wild.

FIFA has formally banned Russia, Congo, and Pakistan from the 2026 FIFA World Cup over a range of governance and political concerns.
Russia continues to be banned as a result of the war in Ukraine, with FIFA and UEFA sticking with their decision to exclude the country from international competitions. Congo’s suspension is due to government interference in its football federation, violating FIFA rules. Pakistan did not comply with FIFA and the Asian Football Confederation’s (AFC) requirements for an independent election process in its football administration. With these exclusions, FIFA has reallocated qualification places, but the move is controversial, particularly among supporters and officials of the excluded nations.
A revolutionary move has been made in Jammu & Kashmir with the launch of The University of WathHarbor, the state’s first crowdfunded university.
Civil society members unveiled their vision for the university at a press conference in Srinagar, highlighting its mission to revolutionize higher education in the state. The university will specialize in cutting-edge fields such as Artificial Intelligence, Robotics, and new technologies, making students globally competitive.
In contrast to the conventional private universities, The University of WathHarbor will not be owned by any individual but will be a community institution. The project leaders have asked for 25 acres of land from the J&K government on a 99-year lease, just like in states of Gujarat and Uttar Pradesh.
With thousands of students leaving J&K every year for higher education, this initiative aims to provide world-class education within the region and reduce academic migration.
Virat Kohli again demonstrated why he is the best chase master, playing a clinical 98-ball 84 to lead India to victory over Australia in the Champions Trophy semi-final. His knock, characterized by measured stroke play and astute partnerships, put India into the tournament final.
Despite Australia setting a competitive target of 265, Kohli’s steady innings, coupled with crucial stands with Shreyas Iyer, Axar Patel, and KL Rahul, kept India in control. His ability to rotate the strike and absorb pressure highlighted his unmatched skill in high-pressure chases.
Former Australian captain Steve Smith praised Kohli, calling him “arguably the best chaser the game has seen.” With this victory, India inches closer to adding another major ICC trophy to its collection.
As India prepares for the final, Kohli’s performance stands as a testament to patience, precision, and perfection in ODI cricket.
