Every year on January 23, India marks Parakram Diwas as a tribute to the courage and leadership qualities of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, considered an icon of India’s freedom struggle. Kolkata, deeply attached to his legacy, observes this day with grand tributes and programmes.
The city is home to several landmarks that keep Netaji’s memory alive, including Netaji Bhawan, his ancestral residence which now serves as a museum showcasing his life and struggles. The iconic equestrian statue at Shyambazar and the renaming of the city’s international airport after him are enduring symbols of his influence.
