3- Royal Enfield Scram 440 Launched in India
Royal Enfield has introduced the Scram 440 in India, at ₹2.08 lakh ex-showroom. The new motorcycle takes a lead from its predecessor, the Scram 411, but comes fitted with a bigger 443cc air/oil-cooled engine developing 25.4bhp and 34Nm torque.
The Scram 440 comes as either of the following:
Trail Variant: ₹2.08 lakh – featuring spoked wheels
Force Variant: ₹2.15 lakh – with alloy wheels and tubeless tyres
Equipped with a six-speed gearbox and switchable dual-channel ABS, the Scram 440 is designed for both city rides and off-road adventures. Competing with the Triumph Scrambler 400X, it offers an exciting option for Indian biking enthusiasts.
4- ‘Chhaava’ Trailer Released: Vicky Kaushal as Sambhaji Maharaj
The much-awaited trailer for Chhaava has been released, showcasing Vicky Kaushal in the role of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj and Rashmika Mandanna as Maharani Yesubai. Directed by Maddock Films, the movie highlights the valor and sacrifice of Sambhaji Maharaj in the Maratha Empire.
The trailer showcased some stunning battle scenes, powerful dialogues, and great visual effects, promising an epic movie. Kaushal as the warrior king, with Mandanna’s poised presence, makes up for quite a worthy combo on screen.
The film opens on February 9, 2025, and should appeal to those with a strong interest in history.
5- Airtel Realigns Prepaid Plans to Meet the Recent TRAI Guidelines
Airtel has revised its Rs 509 and Rs 1,999 prepaid plans to comply with TRAI’s latest regulations. Both plans now focus on offering unlimited calling and SMS benefits while removing bundled mobile data.
Rs 509 Plan: 84-day validity, unlimited calls, 900 SMS, access to Airtel Xstream
Rs 1,999 Plan: 365-day Validity, Unlimited Calls, 3000 SMS, Access to Apollo 24|7
Users needing data need to choose separate packs now. The new plans are available through the Airtel Thanks app among other recharge channels.
6- Jalgaon Train Tragedy: Death Toll Climbs to 13
A tragic accident occurred in Maharashtra’s Jalgaon district when 13 passengers of Pushpak Express got down on the adjacent track mistakenly and were crushed by the speeding Karnataka Express.
Police have confirmed the identity of eight bodies, of which four hail from Nepal. The injured passengers are undergoing treatment at nearby hospitals. The Maharashtra government declared financial assistance of ₹5 lakh to the families of the deceased and the Railway Board announced an additional compensation.
7- HUL Buys Skincare Brand Minimalist For ₹2,955 Cr
Hindustan Unilever Limited (HUL) has acquired a 90.5% stake in premium skincare brand Minimalist for ₹2,955 crore, expanding its presence in the high-growth beauty sector.
The acquisition will also further strengthen the position of HUL in the skincare category, leveraging the success of Minimalist in the Active Ingredients-based skincare market. According to CEO Rohit Jawa, the scientific approach of the brand gelled well with the growth vision of HUL.
Minimalist will continue to operate independently while benefiting from HUL’s extensive distribution network.
8- Shubman Gill’s Quiet Return in Ranji Trophy
Back to domestic cricket, Shubman Gill returned with only 4 runs for Punjab against Karnataka in their encounter of the Ranji Trophy. Coming off a poor show in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, where he scored just 93 runs, much was expected from Gill to get back to form, which did not materialize.
Punjab’s batting lineup faced a tough challenge against Karnataka’s disciplined bowling attack as Gill fell prey to a sharp delivery early in his innings.
