Noida Lamborghini Accident: Two Laborers Injured after Speeding Supercar Crashes on Footpath
A Lamborghini was involved in a high-speed accident in Noida’s Sector 94, leaving two labourers injured, and sparking a heated debate on rash driving and car safety. The accident occurred on Sunday when the luxury car, reportedly traveling at a whopping speed of 300 kmph, skidded off the road and hit two men who were sitting on the footpath opposite an under-construction building.
One of the victims, while in hospital, narrated how the impact of the crash tossed them into a drain nearby. He explained how they barely had time to act as the vehicle came at them at high speed. The other injured worker also shared similar sentiments, highlighting that the driver was driving in an irresponsible manner.
The driver, who was identified as Deepak of Rajasthan’s Ajmer, was said to have been checking the car before he bought it. The vehicle belonged to Mridul Tiwari, a YouTuber from Noida with a subscriber base of more than 18 million. Deepak blamed a technical problem in the vehicle for the accident.
Police have also arrested Deepak and impounded the vehicle since. His name, however, was noticeably not included in the FIR, registered on the complaint of an eyewitness pertaining to one of the victims. A local video of the accident scene which went viral revealed people from the area confronting the driver, wondering if he was aware of the gravity of the situation. Police are still investigating the accident.
Vodafone Idea Shares Rise 10% as Government Converts ₹36,950 Crore Dues to Equity
Vodafone Idea (VI) witnessed a stunning rally in its share price following the decision of the Indian government to convert dues of ₹36,950 crore on account of spectrum into equity. The action will raise the government’s holding in VI from 22.6% to 48.99%.
Following this announcement, VI’s stock price jumped by 10% during early trading hours on April 1, while Indus Towers also witnessed a 7% increase. The telecom firm confirmed that it would issue 3,695 crore equity shares at ₹10 per share, significantly impacting its overall shareholding structure.
This is the second such move by the government for Vodafone Idea. In 2023, a comparable conversion was made for debt worth ₹16,133 crore. The company underlined that in spite of the rise in government shareholding, management control would still be with its promoters.
Bengal Prepares for More Than 2,000 Ram Navami Rallies in Face of Security Worries
West Bengal authorities are in high alert mode with over 2,000 processions planned for April 6 to celebrate Ram Navami. Owing to previous instances of communal violence during these occasions, law enforcement agencies are taking special precautions to maintain peace.
State police authorities have asked people to be on their guard and not get misled or provoked. Additional Director General of Police (Law and Order) Jawed Shamim asserted that preventive measures are being taken to keep things under control.
While that is happening, groups like the Sri Ram Navami Ujjapan Samity, which have RSS allies like Vishva Hindu Parishad and Bajrang Dal, have complained about potential attacks on their processions. Some leaders have also asked why restrictions on carrying weapons like tridents and swords should be only for Ram Navami processions and not for Muharram processions.
