The Congress party has taken a dig at Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his recent podcast appearance with American computer scientist Lex Fridman. Senior Congress leader Jairam Ramesh accused Modi of not attending press conferences but finding it convenient to speak with a foreign podcaster who is part of a right-wing ecosystem.
Ramesh deplored the PM’s saying that “criticism is the soul of democracy” as hypocrisy. He believed that Modi had systematically undermined institutions that were there to hold his government accountable and had aggressively sought out critics to attack.
The podcast, which covered topics such as Modi’s upbringing, the influence of the RSS, and global geopolitics, also saw Modi drawing parallels between his “India First” approach and Donald Trump’s “America First” philosophy. He also discussed efforts to mediate peace between Russia and Ukraine, as well as his relationship with world leaders like Trump and Putin.
As the United States urges a quick end to Russia-Ukraine tensions, President Donald Trump has announced a call with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Tuesday.
Addressing reporters on Air Force One, Trump said that much groundwork had been accomplished over the weekend. White House special envoy Steve Witkoff also disclosed ongoing discussions with Ukrainian officials.
The Kremlin, however, is hopeful but guarded. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov affirmed that Putin had made contact with Trump through Witkoff, in the hope of getting a ceasefire deal.

A few moments later, he and his friend, Pranshu, swapped places in the black sedan before they sped off. The ghastly crash happened a little later, with Rakshit supposedly drunk. Eyewitness videos of the accident place him getting out of the smashed vehicle, mumbling incoherently, “Another round, another round!”
Locals caught him on the spot, and he and Pranshu were taken into custody by the authorities.
Indian Oxford scholar Manikarnika Dutta has been instructed to leave the UK because she had her application for indefinite leave to remain turned down. The Home Office accused her of prolonged research trips to India, saying that she was beyond the limit of days outside the UK allowed.
Dutta, who has been in the UK since 2012, had done extensive research on historic archives and visited international conferences as a part of her academic duties. Even being wedded to University of Glasgow professor Dr. Souvik Naha, the Home Office decided that she doesn’t qualify under “family life” in Britain.
Stunned by the verdict, Dutta said, “I never dreamed this would happen to me after spending 12 years in British academia.”
She now risks a 10-year re-entry ban if she does not voluntarily leave.
Maruti Suzuki India has announced a price increase of up to 4% on its entire vehicle lineup from April 2025. The company attributed increasing raw material costs and operational costs as the major reasons.
Despite continuous efforts to optimize expenses, a portion of the increased costs will be passed on to consumers, the automaker stated in an official filing.
This is the second price hike in recent months, following a similar increase in January.

As JPMorgan Chase strengthens its return-to-office (RTO) policies, upset workers are taking to private Signal chat groups and Reddit discussions to vent their frustrations.
One internal group, said to be getting more than 100 messages a day, serves as a virtual safe haven for staff dissenting with the company’s five-day minimum office presence requirement.
This online chatter comes after JPMorgan shut down an internal website on which employees had been posting complaints about RTO policies.
Fear of monitoring attendance, work, and possible terminations has added to the outrage. Although JPMorgan did not confirm rumored disciplinary rules, a representative reemphasized that underperforming staff would be dealt with.
There was a dramatic twist that occurred on the International Masters League final after Indian cricket sensation Yuvraj Singh and West Indies bowler Tino Best had a heated exchange of words.
This came after Best tried to leave the field after his over, but Yuvraj took the matter to the umpire. Best approached Yuvraj in an aggressive manner, prompting a heated argument.
Brian Lara was forced to step in to part the two cricketers, as commentator Darren Gough noted, “These are two players who just don’t back down.”
A minute later, Yuvraj struck back with a six, pointing towards Best—a moment reminiscent of his iconic six sixes against Stuart Broad in the 2007 T20 World Cup.
