1- Pakistan Military Rescues More Than 100 Hostages from Militants Seizing Train in Balochistan
During a tense and continuing security operation, Pakistani forces were able to rescue more than 100 hostages from a passenger train seized by militants in the mountainous terrain of Balochistan. Accounts say the Jaffar Express, traveling from Quetta to Peshawar, was ambushed by armed insurgents, resulting in a fierce standoff.
The assault, carried out in the far-flung Bolan area, was marked by intense exchanges of gunfire between the militants and security forces. As much as 16 militants were confirmed killed by officials in the counter-attack, casualties among security forces and passengers are still being determined. The Pakistan Interior Ministry certified injuries to 17 people but declined to provide further information.
The Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA), a banned separatist organization, took responsibility for the attack, stating that 20 Pakistani soldiers were killed during the encounter. The attack highlights the prevailing instability in Balochistan, which is a province rich in natural resources but troubled by insurgency and terrorism. The attack comes at a sensitive time for Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s government, which is working hard to stabilize the economy of the country and win foreign investment despite growing security fears.
As per police officials in Quetta, the hilly landscape and unavailability of routes made the rescue efforts difficult. Terrorist attacks in Pakistan increased by 40% in 2024, with Balochistan witnessing some of the most fatal attacks, including coordinated attacks that claimed more than 47 lives last year.
2- IndusInd Bank Shares Rebound Sharply After CEO Reassures Investors
Following a precipitous drop in share price in the earlier part of this week, IndusInd Bank shares rallied by almost 14% on Wednesday after a round of reassurances from its promoter Ashok Hinduja. The banking behemoth’s stock, which had plummeted by a steep 26% following revelations of irregularities in its derivatives portfolio, recovered from its intraday low of ₹606 to ₹690 per share.
Hinduja sought to reassure investors by stating that the bank is financially secure and will get complete support if there is any need for capital. His remarks were meant to reassure shareholders, who had become nervous about the absence of clarity in the financial irregularities.
Despite the recent recovery, analysts caution that rebuilding trust in IndusInd Bank will take time. The bank had reported a potential impact of 2.35% on its net worth due to the derivative discrepancies, raising concerns about governance and risk management. As the external audit continues, investors will be closely watching the bank’s Q4 earnings to assess its financial resilience.
3- Bharti Airtel Joins Hands with SpaceX to Launch Starlink Internet in India
In a significant move towards enhancing internet penetration throughout India, Bharti Airtel has partnered with Elon Musk’s SpaceX to launch Starlink satellite broadband services in India. The agreement is Starlink’s first official deal in India, indicating a move towards high-speed satellite-based internet connectivity.
Nonetheless, the deployment is subject to SpaceX obtaining regulatory clearances from Indian officials to provide Starlink in the country. Subject to clearance, the alliance will fortify Airtel’s current satellite internet services along with its ongoing collaboration with Eutelsat OneWeb.
Bharti Airtel Managing Director Gopal Vittal stressed the alliance is part of the company’s mission to bring broadband connectivity to India’s most rural areas. Plans are also in the works for the sale of Starlink hardware through Airtel’s wide network of retail stores and bundling of Starlink services into Airtel’s business offerings.
With an estimated millions in rural India not having reliable internet access, the tie-up is potentially a game-changer in closing the digital divide.
4- Assam Police Constable Recruitment 2025 PET Results Declared
The State Level Police Recruitment Board (SLPRB), Assam has declared the results of the Physical Efficiency Test (PET) of the 2025 Assam Police Constable recruitment. Aspirants who took the test can now verify their results from the official website of SLPRB, i.e., slprbassam.in.
The PET results span across various categories, ranging from Constable (UB) to Constable (AB), Boatman, and Police Constable (Communication). This development is a big leap in the recruitment process, with shortlisted candidates now in the process of preparing for the next stage of selection.
The applicants are informed to check their results early and confirm that they have the qualifications required for the subsequent rounds of evaluation.
5- K-Drama Star Kim Soo Hyun Faces Boycott Amid Underage Dating Allegations
Korean star Kim Soo Hyun becomes the subject of controversy as fury grows over speculation connecting him to the late Kim Sae Ron romantically. The gossip has sparked mass anger, prompting calls for boycotts against top brands linked to Queen of Tears actor.
More than 18 major brands are under pressure from fans calling for their contracts with Kim Soo Hyun to be terminated. The scandal broke out following a claim by YouTube channel HoverLab of financial exploitation of Kim Sae Ron by her previous agency, Gold Medalist. 6- Yamaha Launches India’s First Hybrid Motorcycle at ₹1.45 Lakh
Yamaha has introduced India’s first hybrid motorcycle, the FZ-S Fi Hybrid, at ₹1.44 lakh (ex-showroom). The new bike, which comes in Racing Blue and Cyan Metallic Grey, brings with it latest technology designed to improve fuel efficiency as well as riding comfort.
Housed in a 149cc Blue Core engine, the motorcycle boasts Yamaha’s Smart Motor Generator (SMG) and Stop & Start System (SSS) that turns off the engine automatically at idle and restarts with a rapid clutch movement.
One of the main attractions is the 4.2-inch full-color TFT instrument cluster that is connected to smartphones using the Y-Connect app. With Turn-by-Turn (TBT) navigation tied to Google Maps, riders get real-time directions, making directions simpler and more convenient.
Yamaha’s Chairman Itaru Otani stressed that the launch reaffirms the company’s focus on innovation and rider-oriented design, a milestone for India’s two-wheeler market.
7- NCC Special Entry Scheme 2025 Registration Closes on March 15
The Indian Army has issued a notice stating that registrations for the NCC Special Entry Scheme will close on March 15, 2025. Candidates who are eligible can apply through the official website, joinindianarmy.nic.in.
Applicants should be in the age group of 19 to 25 years as on July 1, 2025, and will be shortlisted through an application-based selection process followed by SSB interviews at the assigned selection centers. Shortlisted candidates clearing the medical examination will be issued their joining letters on a merit basis.

9- Zomato Former COO Surobhi Das Joins Hands with Deepinder Goyal for Aerospace Startup
Ex-Zomato Chief Operating Officer Surobhi Das and Zomato CEO Deepinder Goyal joined hands to found LAT Aerospace, a startup targeting low-cost short takeoff and landing (STOL) airplanes.
Goyal has invested an estimated $20 million in the venture, with the startup negotiating an additional $50 million in seed funding. LAT Aerospace will strengthen regional air links by creating affordable aircraft with seating capacities of up to 24.
