BoAt, an electronics brand, recently targeted Apple in a series of ads. One of the videos featured the tagline “Don’t be a fanboy, be a boAthead.”

The caption of the post further emphasized this message: “No fruits were harmed in the making of this film. It’s time to give an Indian brand a chance to compete on the global level. Don’t be a fanboy, be a boAthead.”

Boat hit another round with a newspaper advertisement published in the Times of India, boAt encouraged customers to “Think Better” by showcasing an image of an apple alongside their latest Airdopes.

The boAt ad quickly stirred reactions when shared on social media, sparking a lively debate among users.

The advertisements quickly went viral, capturing the attention of many viewers. However, they didn’t receive a warm reception from social media users on X.

One user wrote, “Seems like they’re playing in the wrong league.” Another commented, “Honestly, not impressed. What’s up with that?”

A third user added some perspective, saying, “Respectfully, people choose boAt because it’s affordable and still offers good quality. It’s not just about the technology itself. Nonetheless, good effort from the team!”

Another user compared the situation, saying, “It’s like Oyo making fun of Taj hotels. People don’t choose Taj just for a comfortable bed and pillows. Similarly, the appeal of Apple products isn’t just about sound quality.”

Yet another user shared a humorous take, “I can imagine a boAt copywriter going home thinking they’ve hit Apple hard with ‘no fruits were harmed in making this ad’. And here we are, with trade portals calling it ‘shots fired!’. Despite this, I’m glad for boAt’s success and hope for more.
