Gold prices rose to an all-time high on Monday after investors sought safe haven in the wake of the latest tariff measures announced by U.S. President Donald Trump. The U.S. President has imposed fresh tariffs on Canada, Mexico, and China, while also warning of potential levies against the European Union, fuelling concerns over inflation and economic slowdowns.
According to Phillip Streible, chief market strategist at Blue Line Futures, these tariffs have led to worries over higher costs and inflationary pressure that may slow economic growth.
During times of economic uncertainty, gold tends to be a safe haven; the spot price of the yellow metal rose 0.6% to $2,816.53 per ounce (₹78,908 per 10 grams), which briefly touched an all-time high of $2,818.58 (₹78,965 per 10 grams). In comparison, U.S. gold futures shot up 0.7% to $2,855.90 (₹80,035 per 10 grams), staying at a premium over spot prices.
Co-founder of Zerodha, Nikhil Kamath’s podcast “WTF is” brings guests from various walks of life to discuss issues of importance. However, in the latest episode with U.S. millionaire Bryan Johnson, it took an interesting turn when Johnson walked out mid-conversation over India’s air quality. Johnson later explained on social media why he walked out. He said that the ventilation system in the room was drawing in outside air, making his air purifier useless.
“I had been in India for three days when I developed a rash and throat irritation from the pollution,” Johnson said, adding that air pollution has become so normalized in India that people fail to acknowledge its long-term health effects. His remarks have sparked widespread debate on India’s deteriorating air quality.
Rapper and producer Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs, who is currently held at Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Center on multiple sex crime charges, was unexpectedly moved to a hospital late Thursday night.
Reports initially suggested that Combs may have been injured in a prison altercation, but sources later confirmed the 54-year-old needed an MRI scan due to persistent knee pain.
The music tycoon, who had run the New York Marathon in the past, has been suffering from knee problems for a long time. After the medical checkup at Brooklyn Hospital, he was taken back to his prison cell the same night.
Combs is to face trial on May 5 on charges that could land him in prison for a long time.
The White House has confirmed that Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, is a special government employee under President Donald Trump. He is serving without pay. Musk, who reportedly spent over $290 million last year supporting Trump’s campaign, has now been assigned a government email address and office space.
While these appointments typically last for up to 130 days, sources suggest Musk’s role in Trump’s administration could extend longer. Trump himself endorsed Musk’s work, confirming the news upon his return from Florida this past weekend.
The move has raised eyebrows, given Musk’s previous turbulent relationship with the U.S. government and his outspoken views on policy matters.
iD Fresh Food CEO PC Musthafa has taken to social media to demand justice for his 15-year-old nephew, who died by suicide in Kochi following severe bullying and ragging at school.
In a heart-wrenching post, Musthafa shared childhood photos of his nephew, expressing devastation over the incident. “He was like a son to me. He lived with us during his early years, and now he’s gone,” he wrote.
Evidence from the boy’s friends suggested that he had been physically attacked, verbally assaulted, and forced to perform acts that were degrading, including being made to lick a toilet seat while people hurled insulting names at him.
Worst still, the bullies were said to have ridiculed his dark skin. And after he died, some students were heard to have toasted his death by sending racist remarks in chat messages.
The case has outraged many people, and people are demanding strict anti-bullying laws and urgent intervention from the authorities.
Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan is actively promoting his son Aryan Khan’s much-anticipated debut series on Netflix, which delves into the glamorous yet chaotic world of Indian cinema.
This outsider’s sojourn into the world of films portrays, amidst satire with interesting storytelling, all the hiccups in being a superstar.
Recently at an event that promised much from his latest project, Shah Rukh spoke of the one “Jawan” dialogue of saying, “Bete ko haath lagane se pehle baap se baat kar,” when speaking about the protection of his son.
The series is expected to be one of the biggest releases of the year on the streaming platform.

Tandon, who is more famously known as the elder sister of former PepsiCo CEO Indra Nooyi, is known for her musical success, but her win has been seen as a testament to pursuing passions at any stage in life.

Global football legend, Cristiano Ronaldo had a two-fisted response that included a newfound goal celebration against Al Wasl in Al-Nassr, which had already won 4-0 by then.
Ronaldo, surrounded by teammates, pulled off an “airplane crash” celebration – a smooth flight with an abrupt drop – as if to celebrate the smooth and sudden fall as if he could not stop even at nearly 40 years of age.
Fresh signing Jhon Duran of Al-Nassr had his first game. It was, however, rather underwhelming for him.
Ronaldo is still worth his salt as he approaches his 40th birthday, yet remains a core figure in Saudi football.
