After going on the run for years, fugitive entrepreneur Mehul Choksi has been detained in Belgium at the behest of Indian law enforcement. His detention, which happened on Saturday, comes after India made a formal extradition request to Belgian authorities.
After Interpol Red Notice was withdrawn against Choksi, the CBI as well as the Enforcement Directorate increased pressure for extradition. Popular pastor and gospel singer John Jebaraj has been arrested by Kerala police after he was accused of sexually abusing two minor girls at his house in Coimbatore. The 37-year-old, who was the head of the King Generation Prayer Hall and was popular for his Christian concerts, had been on the run for months.
Police finally arrested him in Munnar on the basis of a tip-off. He is now charged under the POCSO Act. The crime reportedly took place at Jebaraj’s house during a party in May 2024, and only surfaced recently when one of the victims told the family. Aged Kannada actor Bank Janardhan, a household name in south Indian cinema, passed away at 77. Having been a master of comedy and lovable father figures on screen, Janardhan had not been in good health due to age-related issues. A chilling Wisconsin case has emerged where 17-year-old Nikita Casap is accused of murdering his parents in a strange attempt to raise funds and material to kill former United States President Donald Trump. Federal documents indicate that Casap was driven by radical ideologies and had discussed with a Russian-speaking individual plans for escaping to Ukraine.
Police found the decomposing bodies of Donald Mayer and Tatiana Casap weeks later after they were killed in February.
