  1. Sandeep Dikshit Alleges Delhi Exit Polls Undercount AAP’s Strength

Congress leader Sandeep Dikshit today trashed the Delhi exit polls released so far, saying they have miscast the Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP) real electoral strength.

Speaking to ANI, Dikshit said that Congress is likely to garner 17-18% of the vote share, contrary to projections that paint the party as struggling. He also said that AAP’s standing has been downplayed unfairly and that the final results may have a different story to tell.

According to exit polls, the BJP seems very likely to make a strong comeback in Delhi after 27 years. Estimates project as high as 51-60 seats. In some surveys, it is said to be a close contest; BJP would win from 35-40 seats and AAP between 32-37. Congress is expected to get minimal traction with 0-1 seats in most of the forecasts.

Dikshit is still hoping for a thrilling result when the final results come out on February 8.

  1. Countries That Have Banned Chinese AI Chatbot DeepSeek

Chinese AI chatbot DeepSeek has rapidly gained popularity, but its global outreach is now heavily restricted. Many countries have banned the platform fully or partially, citing security and privacy concerns.

Italy became the first country to impose a complete ban, based on alleged non-compliance with user data protection laws. Taiwan has banned the use of DeepSeek for government personnel and other state-run enterprises, as well as public institutions across Taiwan, based on concerns about data security risks. Australia has followed a national intelligence review that determined DeepSeek may pose a security risk by banning government staff from accessing the AI chatbot. India has also taken proactive steps; the Finance Ministry has curtailed its use for government employees. The public can still access DeepSeek, but its future in international markets is uncertain.

  1. RBI Governor Sanjay Malhotra Chairs First MPC Meeting

The Reserve Bank of India’s Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) has started its first meeting under newly appointed Governor Sanjay Malhotra, with the focus of the discussions being a possible repo rate cut.

The central bank has kept the short-term lending rate at 6.5% since February 2023, but economic experts predict a possible 25 basis point reduction to boost growth amid sluggish consumption trends.

According to Chief Economist Madan Sabnavis, the RBI’s recent liquidity injection of ₹1.5 lakh crore could be a precursor to this decision. However, analysts remain cautious, pointing to global economic uncertainties and the volatile Indian Rupee as factors that might delay a rate cut until April 2025.

The final decision will be announced on February 7, 2025.

Although no official ban exists, government offices have been asked to refrain from engaging these AI chatbots in work affairs, especially those where sensitive documents exist.

Neymar started on the bench, playing 52 minutes in the second half and was unable to regain his previous glory. Botafogo scored in the 67th minute, and with Santos having the advantage of numbers, they failed to make anything of it. After the match, Neymar spoke out emotionally, saying, “I love Santos deeply, and stepping onto this pitch again was unforgettable.”
