1- China Calls for Restraint in Wake of India-Pakistan Tensions Following Pahalgam Attack

China has come out in support of Pakistan while calling for restraint following the horrific Pahalgam terror attack that left 26 people dead on April 22. During a telephone call with Pakistani Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi reiterated Beijing’s solidarity with Islamabad, reiterating Pakistan’s right to defend its sovereignty and security. The attack, blamed on The Resistance Front, a front for Pakistan-based group Lashkar-e-Taiba, has further escalated tensions between India and Pakistan. India reacted with strict measures, suspending the Indus Waters Treaty and closing the Attari border crossing, to which Pakistan retaliated by shutting down its airspace to Indian flights and suspending bilateral trade. Wang demanded a neutral probe into the attack and appealed to both countries to exercise restraint to avoid further escalation. Dar, on his part, dismissed India’s action as “unilateral and illegal,” reiterating Pakistan’s resolve to responsibly combating terrorism. China’s response highlights its strategic partnership with Pakistan, while its appeal for talks indicates a larger interest in regional stability.

2- Heartbreak in Pahalgam: Widow Recounts Husband’s Heroic Sacrifice

The Pahalgam terror attack has made a permanent imprint on the lives of its victims’ families, no one more than Ashanya Dwivedi, whose husband, Shubham Dwivedi, was one of the 26 murdered. In an emotional interview, Ashanya talked about how Shubham’s act of valour saved people’s lives while he was attacked at a tourist meadow in Jammu and Kashmir. When faced by terrorists who asked them what religion they belonged to, Shubham boldly declared himself Hindu, attracting their fire and enabling others to escape. Ashanya, who had first thought the terrorists’ questions were a joke, was heartbroken as a bullet hit her husband, bringing an end to their two-month marriage. She has since requested the government to declare Shubham a martyr, a title she feels would provide her with a reason to continue. Shubham’s cremation in his home village was a poignant reminder of the individual cost of terrorism, as Ashanya struggles to cope with bereavement and a future without her partner.

3- Ceasefire Violations Continue Along India-Pakistan Line of Control

The Line of Control (LoC) dividing India and Pakistan has become a flashpoint, with Pakistan violating the ceasefire for the fourth consecutive day on April 27-28. Indian Army reported unprovoked small arms fire from Pakistani posts facing Kupwara and Poonch districts, to which Indian troops reacted swiftly and effectively. This follows earlier incidents on April 26-27, when Pakistani forces fired at Indian positions in Tutmari Gali and Rampur sectors. The ongoing violations coincide with heightened tensions following the Pahalgam terror attack, which has strained bilateral relations to a breaking point. India’s robust military response underscores its commitment to defending its borders, while the persistent skirmishes raise fears of further escalation between the nuclear-armed neighbors. As both sides remain on high alert, the international community watches closely, hoping for a resolution to avert a broader conflict.

4- Tragic Fire in Delhi’s Rohini Claims Young Lives

A catastrophic fire tore through the Bengali Basti slum in Delhi’s Rohini Sector 17, leaving a trail of destruction and heartbreak. The blaze, which erupted around 11:30 AM on Sunday, claimed the lives of two children, three-year-old Sadia Khatoon and four-year-old Alam Sheikh, and injured 28-year-old Shabul Sheikh. Over 200 hutments were reduced to ashes, displacing more than 600 residents. The blaze, which was ignited by burning LPG cylinders, quickly spread among the closely built shanties, making it difficult to fight the fire. A group of 100 firefighters and 26 fire trucks fought the fire for three hours, finally containing the blaze by 2 PM. The cause is still being investigated, with initial reports indicating that combustible materials in the huts hastened the tragedy. The disaster has exposed the vulnerability of slum dwellers, leading to calls for enhanced safety protocols and assistance to the affected families.

5- Paresh Rawal’s Unconventional Health Claim Creates Online Frenzy

Senior actor Paresh Rawal has ignited social media with the shocking news of recovering from a knee injury. In an interview, Rawal revealed that he drank his own urine for 15 days on the recommendation of Veeru Devgan, a stunt director who said it was a common practice among fighters. Rawal, admitted to Nanavati Hospital for his injury, followed the recommendation carefully, drinking the urine “like beer” to follow in strict adherence. Astoundingly, he attributed the treatment with having speeded his healing, for an X-ray showed surprise recuperation, such that he could be sent home after only 1.5 months instead of the expected 2.5 months. The assertion has garnered a combination of astonishment, disbelief, and sarcasm online, with readers cracking jokes on Rawal’s “waste management” and asking whether there is any scientific basis for using such an unusual remedy. While the actor readies himself for his new films, Bhooth Bangla and Hera Pheri 3, his health tip has turned into a viral buzzword.

6- Navina Bole Accuses Sajid Khan of Inappropriate Conduct

TV actress Navina Bole has made shocking allegations against director Sajid Khan, calling him a “terrible man” who was disrespectful towards women. In an interview, Bole described a disturbing experience in the mid-2000s when Khan, who was working on Heyy Babyy, had invited her to his house purportedly to talk about a role. Khan had reportedly asked her to undress to her lingerie to test how comfortable she would be, brushing aside her protests with vulgar insults. Bole, who was reassured to have someone waiting for her downstairs, was able to depart but was persistently called by Khan afterwards. Khan called again a year later, apparently unaware of their earlier interaction, indicating a pattern of behavior. Bole’s revelations are added to earlier allegations against Khan, with continued concern regarding abuse in the entertainment sector and the lack of accountability.

7- Pakistani Hindu Families Face Deportation Fears in India

The aftermath of the Pahalgam terror attack has put a shadow on Pakistani Hindu families in India, which now stand the threat of deportation following a government order. The order, which was given after the attack, asks Pakistani nationals without valid Long Term Visas (LTVs) to depart by April 27. Numerous families, who sold their businesses and properties in Pakistan to begin fresh in India, are now filled with despair. An 18-member Sindh family who reached on April 19 requested authorities in Barmer to permit them to settle, appealing to their inability to have connections in Pakistan and seeking a peaceful life. The family, like the others, offered condolences to the victims of the attack but underlined their innocence and intention to have a future in India. The directive has also generated a humanitarian outcry, as the families struggle to find their way forward.

8- Tamil Nadu Cabinet Shake-Up After Resignations of Ministers

The political scene in Tamil Nadu took a dramatic turn with the resignation of Electricity Minister Senthil Balaji and Forests Minister Ponmudy, forcing Chief Minister MK Stalin to reshuffle his cabinet. Balaji, who is under investigation by the Enforcement Directorate in a cash-for-jobs case, was criticized by the Supreme Court for taking on a ministerial role just after being released on bail. Ponmudy, on the other hand, faced opposition criticism over recent comments. During the reshuffle, Transport Minister SS Sivasankar was given the Electricity portfolio, and Housing Minister S Muthusamy took on Excise and Prohibition responsibilities. RS Rajakannappan took on Forests and Khadi in addition to his duties, and T Mano Thangaraj was sworn in as a new minister. The appointments are Stalin’s attempt to shore up his government in the face of legal and political woes, providing continuity in important portfolios.

9- Krunal Pandya Leads RCB to Win Over DC in IPL 2025

Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) produced a masterclass in IPL 2025 by beating Delhi Capitals (DC) by eight wickets at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. The game, a turnabout of their previous game in Bengaluru, had RCB limiting DC to 162, courtesy of dogged bowling by Krunal Pandya and Suyash Sharma. In the chase, RCB stumbled to 26/3, but Pandya’s explosive 73 off 47 balls, complemented by Virat Kohli’s steady 51, turned the tide. Pandya’s aggressive play against both pace and spin, including three sixes and multiple boundaries, dismantled DC’s bowling attack. A 119-run partnership with Kohli ensured RCB’s victory with nine balls to spare, reinforcing their formidable away record. RCB’s cricket director, Mo Bobat, lauded Pandya’s crucial contribution, noting the depth of the batting unit as the main reason behind their success.

10- Bangladesh’s Towhid Hridoy Faces Four-Match Ban

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has handed a four-match suspension to batter Towhid Hridoy for violating the code of conduct during a Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League match. Hridoy, captain of Mohammedan Sporting Club, was charged with displaying dissent towards an umpire’s decision after remaining at the crease after being dismissed on April 26. Even after appealing against the charge, Hridoy did not turn up for a disciplinary hearing, and hence he was fined 10,000 Taka and another demerit point. With eight demerit points in total from previous breaches, the 24-year-old is now under immediate suspension. The incident highlights the BCB’s determination to enforce discipline, though Hridoy’s absence might affect his team’s campaign in the current league.
