  1. Sonia Gandhi Discharged from Delhi Hospital After Mild Pancreatitis 

Congress leader Sonia Gandhi has been discharged from the Sir Ganga Ram Hospital in New Delhi where she was admitted for a routine check-up and mild pancreatitis.

The 78-year-old veteran politician was admitted on February 20, 2025, but doctors said that her condition was stable and she was under observation. Sources said that she was responding well to treatment and was allowed to return home on February 21.

Gandhi’s hospitalisation had raised eyebrows among Congress workers as the party prepares for elections later this year, but she is said to be stable and likely to return to politics soon.

  1. Kash Patel Appointed as FBI Director Amid Controversy

Indian-origin lawyer Kash Patel has been sworn in as the ninth director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) following a 51-49 vote in the Senate.

An ally of US President Donald Trump, Patel said he would make the FBI “more transparent, accountable and committed to justice, ” but he faced fierce opposition from Democrats and even some Republicans.

Patel, who was born to Gujarati parents in New York, has spent more than 30 years in US national security, intelligence, and law enforcement, most recently as deputy assistant to the president and senior director for counter terrorism at the National Security Council (NSC).

With his new post, Patel will have an influential role in shaping US law enforcement policies under Trump.

  1. Did Netflix Remove Urvashi Rautela’s Scenes from ‘Daaku Maharaj’?

Netflix’s Daaku Maharaj’s censorship controversy: Here’s what we know Social media speculated that Urvashi Rautela’s scenes have been cut from the digital version of the film Daaku Maharaj, which stars Nandamuri Balakrishna, Bobby Deol, Pragya Jaiswal and Shraddha Srinath.

But sources close to the production refuted the allegations and said the OTT version is the same as the theatrical release. The rumours had started after Urvashi was not seen in the Netflix promo poster, which made fans believe her scenes were cut.

Netflix did not immediately respond to a request for comment, but industry sources say the film’s content was not altered.

  1. Yuzvendra Chahal’s Cryptic Instagram Post Fuels Divorce Rumors

Indian cricketer Yuzvendra Chahal’s mysterious Instagram post raises questions over his marriage with Dhanashree Verma as 60 crore alimony settlement rumours surface

On February 20, Chahal wrote, “God has protected me more times than I can count. Thank you, God, for always being there, even when I don’t know it. Amen. ” He did not directly address his personal life, but the post added to speculation that his marriage was in trouble.

Both Chahal and Dhanashree have not commented on the divorce rumours but it is not the first time when the couple’s relationship has been in the news. The leg-spinner is not part of India’s Champions Trophy squad, which only adds to the intrigue.

  1. ED seizes director Shankar’s properties worth 10 cr in money laundering probe

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has attached three properties valued at 10. 11 crore belonging to Tamil film director S. Shankar in a money laundering case.

The court was hearing a 2011 complaint filed by Tamil writer Aarur Tamilnadan who had alleged that Shankar had plagiarised his short story ‘Jiguba’ for the blockbuster film Enthiran (Robot).

Authorities said during the probe they found that Shankar was paid 11. 5 crore for Enthiran including for story development, screenplay, dialogues and direction. The FTII report said Enthiran had “striking similarities” to Tamilnadan’s work.

With the case picking up pace, Shankar’s counsel would now contest the ED’s move in the court.

  1. Sourav Ganguly’s Convoy Meets with Road Accident in West Bengal

Former India cricketer Sourav Ganguly escaped unhurt in a road accident on the Durgapur Expressway when he was heading to Burdwan University.

Ganguly’s car was overtaken by a lorry at an instant, forcing him to apply brakes abruptly which led to a chain collision of vehicles behind.

No one sustained any injuries and Ganguly was able to continue his journey after a 10-minute delay. But such incidents are common on Indian highways.

  1. Kerala Inches Closer to Historic Ranji Trophy Final Kerala in Ranji final

Kerala’s maiden Ranji Trophy final appearance is all but secured after taking a dramatic two-run first-innings lead over Gujarat at Ahmedabad.

Gujarat, the 2016-17 Ranji Trophy winners, had to score just 29 more runs to take the first-innings lead, but left-arm spinner Aditya Sarwate came up with a heroic knock, taking the last three wickets to bowl Gujarat out for 455 runs in 174. 4 overs.

Kerala to reach final on first-innings lead as match likely to end in draw MUMBAI: Kerala will reach the final on the back of a first-innings lead and will meet Vidarbha in the decider.

Kerala makes Ranji history, beats Rajasthan in semifinals Kerala made its Ranji debut in 1957 and last reached the semifinals in 2018-19.

  1. MS Dhoni Talks Retirement, Confirms IPL 2025 Participation

Ex-India skipper MS Dhoni has said he will play in IPL 2025 as an uncapped player and will spend another season with Chennai Super Kings (CSK).

Speaking at the event, Dhoni said, “I’ve been retired since 2019 but I just want to enjoy cricket for a few more years the way I used to when I was a kid. ”

Dhoni retired from international cricket in July 2019 but continued to play for CSK and helped them win their fifth IPL title in 2023. The 2025 IPL season begins on March 22 and CSK fans will be hoping to see him in what could be his final season.

  1. Shubman Gill’s Century Anchors India in Champions Trophy

Opener Shubman Gill struck a majestic century to put India in a commanding position against Bangladesh in their ICC Champions Trophy opener in Dubai on Thursday.

The Indian vice-captain played a mature innings on a slow wicket and ensured India did not suffer a collapse. Once he reached his triple figure, Gill gave a subtle nod to the Indian dugout to show his gratitude for the faith shown in him.

He is now the world’s No. 1 ODI batter after recently overtaking Babar Azam in the ICC rankings and India will look to him for good form in the next few matches as they gear up for the Champions Trophy.

  1. Mohammed Shami Shines in Champions Trophy Return

Mohammed Shami took five wickets for 53 runs in India’s Champions Trophy opener against Bangladesh in Dubai

Shami’s performance came after a 14-month injury layoff due to Achilles tendon surgery. “It’s a great feeling for the team and myself, ” Shami said. “There were a lot of doubts about my fitness but I wanted to prove that I’m back in form. I’m still one of India’s best fast bowlers. ”

Shami’s return will have symbolic significance after the criticism heaped upon him following India’s 2021 T20 World Cup loss to Pakistan, but his experience and match-winning ability could prove crucial as India chase Champions Trophy glory.
