Tragedy struck Buenos Aires when former One Direction singer Liam Payne was reportedly found dead aged 31 after being found on the ground with multiple injuries after falling off the third floor of an hotel, local officials said. Payne had issues since birth, and his injuries were fatal, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Payne had previously spoken openly on his health issues in the 2011 biography of One Direction titled Dare to Dream. It was revealed that he was born “essentially dead” due to complications, and the frequent visits to the hospital during his early childhood were commonplace. He got over these issues, but one remains now: one of his kidneys does not work anymore. Payne’s death turned out to be an unfortunate one as this teenager was a heartthrob since he rose into fame through the hugely successful band One Direction who started off their journey by participating in season two of the reality show The X Factor in 2010.
In the firing case outside Salman Khan’s residence in Bandra, Mumbai, the Navi Mumbai Police have allied with the local authorities in Haryana and arrested one of Lawrence Bishnoi gang members, Sukkha. Sukkha was taken into custody in Panipat and is likely to be shifted to Navi Mumbai.
This arrest comes months after the firing incident outside Khan’s residence in April 2024. A lot of threats had fallen on the Bollywood superstar, including the foiled plot of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang to target him near his Panvel farmhouse earlier this year. This case is now being investigated, and Salman Khan cooperated entirely by giving his statement to the authorities and protesting over the safety of his family.
Rajasthan’s Education Minister Madan Dilawar has appealed to the teachers to become good role models for the young generation, getting properly dressed and professionally groomed. Speaking at an event in Neem Ka Thana while inaugurating a new school building here, Dilawar said that teachers must be punctual and advisable to take a strict decision against tobacco and alcohol consumption.
Undoubtedly such un-professionalism by teachers hurts unbearably and is an example to students like habitual late-comers who abuse languages, said Dilawar, adding that teachers are not allowed to leave schools during working hours for religious rituals. Remarks by Dilawar show continuing efforts of improvement in standards in the schools of Rajasthan and upholding of moral values.
Washington D.C.’s National Zoo just got its newest residents, two giant pandas named Bao Li and Qing Bao who recently came into town on a Boeing 777, playfully called the ‘FedEx Panda Express.’ The young pair will be making its public debut in January 2025 after the quarantine and acclimatization.
Despite the zoo announcing that the pandas would spend several weeks in isolation and this is to be done through medical checks before they are ready for visitors, members of the public eagerly await their arrival. In anticipation, the National Zoo renovated its panda house so that it would be comfortable and enriching for the pandas. While Bao Li and Qing Bao are separated now, this is not inconsistent with panda behaviour that sees the species solitary in the wild; they come together just to mate.
Professors and students of the various public universities of Buenos Aires, Argentina rampaged the streets of the capital Wednesday in protest against the veto by President Javier Milei of an increased budget plan that had been passed for public universities. Professors from the country’s premier institutes like the University of Buenos Aires set up makeshift outdoor classrooms in the heart of the city to raise concern on the effect of the cutbacks, including funding and faculty salary cuts, at Argentina’s beleaguered public universities amidst its current inflation crisis.
The austerity measures put in by Milei to help reduce Argentina’s fiscal deficit have caused quite a lot of ruckus within the academic circles. Despite continuous new cuts, Milei has pointed out that he stands for the free public system of education in Argentina and appealed to parliament to resolve this so as not to have any negative impact on his financial policies. The university faculty declared another call for strikes based on this concern over what appears to be the direction unfolding for the future of education in this country amid soaring inflation rates.
A man, Prakash Mandal, walked into the hospital at Bihar with the highly venomous Russell’s viper draped on his neck. Mandal was bitten by the snake at home, and fearing improper medical treatment for himself, he brought the snake along with him in the hope that the doctors would be able to identify it properly.
Mandal had reacted within no time to the bite by tying off his arm, thus preventing the spread of venom and carrying the snake to the hospital. This thinking was probably going to save his life because, as reads from Russell’s Vipers, many people die from the snake bites in India. The doctors treated Mandal right away at the hospital and handled and removed the snake safely through experts.
India has just extended the largest-scale humanitarian aid to countries in the Global South for the second time in succession as it continues the long tradition of supporting its extended neighborhood. Just recently, India had sent aid to five countries: Laos, Vietnam, Malawi, Zambia, and Zimbabwe. Hygiene kits, blankets, and water purifiers were extended to the Southeast Asian nations, struck by Typhoon Yagi. Rice and maize shipments were extended to drought-affected nations in southern Africa.
Such efforts are part of the overall strategy India pursues through its policies for “Act East” and “Africa Outreach”. India has had a history of providing aid to countries in times of crisis, including relief packages to Turkey and Syria following recent devastating earthquakes in 2023. Such a commitment to global solidarity is characteristic of India’s responsible and pro-active regional power status-all in step with the principle of “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam”, meaning the world is one family.
Bitcoin is gaining new steam and investors are becoming increasingly optimistic that the cryptocurrency will make all-time highs fueled by a surge in global liquidity and soon US elections. The first cryptocurrency advanced 2.9 percent to close to $68,000 led by favorable economic conditions, particularly stimulus measures made in China, and increasing interest in digital assets.
Adding to the bullish sentiment on Bitcoin, U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris showed her support for a regulatory framework for cryptocurrencies, thereby quieting the industry nerves concerning flimsy regulatory filings. The timing is excellent as both Harris and former President Donald Trump have demonstrated an interest in wooing the crypto community before the 2024 elections, which has given crypto enthusiasts a glimmer of hope that clearer guidelines would take the market further.
