A senior IPS officer said that the actor is now stable and undergoing treatment at Lilavati Hospital. “The actor and the intruder had a confrontation that resulted in injuries. Saif Ali Khan is now out of danger,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police Dixit Gedam.

Hindenburg Research, the short-selling firm that had gained notoriety for its scathing reports, including the high-profile expose of the Adani Group in 2023, has announced that it is shutting down. The company, founded by Nate Anderson, cited the completion of its work pipeline as the reason for closing operations.
Market expert Ajay Bagga on social media speculated on possible reasons behind the decision, pointing to the firm’s controversial practices. Bagga listed five potential factors, including the unsustainability of short-selling, regulatory pressures, and the damaging impact of Hindenburg’s targeted reports on global markets.
Hindenburg became notorious for causing market disruptions to a large extent, and critics said the company was making money from chaos rather than doing a noble job of exposing corporate fraud. Regulatory scrutiny may have been one reason it quietly exited the industry.

Hours after Israel and Hamas announced a ceasefire deal, residents in Gaza reported heavy on intensified strikes from the Israeli military. The truce, mediated by Qatar, the US, and Egypt, is aimed at ending 15 months of devastating conflict that has accounted for more than 46,000 deaths and displaced millions in the region.
The three-phase ceasefire establishes a six-week stop in hostilities, the release of hostages, and step-by-step withdrawal of Israeli forces from Gaza. In the first phase, 33 female, children, and elderly Israeli hostages will be released in exchange for Palestinian prisoners.
Despite widespread celebrations over the truce, reports from Gaza indicate escalated violence as mediators work to ensure the agreement holds. Qatar’s Prime Minister confirmed the ceasefire is set to begin on Sunday, with hopes that it will pave the way for long-term peace.

The Indian Space Research Organisation has made history with the successful docking of its Space Docking Experiment, or SpaDeX, satellites. The mission was launched on December 30, 2024. India now becomes one of only three countries worldwide—the US, Russia, and China—to successfully achieve space docking.
ISRO confirmed the success through social media. “India docked its name in space history! SpaDeX achieves historic docking success,” ISRO said. Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated ISRO. He said it is a “significant stepping stone for future space missions.”
The process of docking took the spacecraft 3 meters apart from each other, and it then captured and stabilized them successfully. The mission paves the way for advanced space operations and collaboration in the future.
Delhi’s air quality plunged to the ‘severe’ category on Wednesday, prompting the reimposition of Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) Stage 4 measures. The city’s air quality index (AQI) reached 396, with several regions reporting AQI levels above 400.
The Delhi Directorate of Education has directed schools to switch over to the hybrid mode for students up to Classes 9 and 11 in this emergency response. Calm winds, cold temperatures, and fog have worsened the pollution.

In his farewell address, outgoing US President Joe Biden warned of a “dangerous oligarchy” threatening democracy. The speech heightened the concerns regarding growing concentration of power and wealth among the ultra-rich.
While standing at the Oval Office, President Biden emphasized threats posed by what he called an American “tech-industrial complex,” where unchecked corporate influence threatens society.
“This oligarchy undermines the fair shot that every American deserves. So, when it comes to regulation, he is going to ensure that every administration is tackling inequality and doing their part for the democratic order.”
Biden’s speech as a caution for when he eventually steps down should give future leadership much to learn in terms of policy-making concerning equity and justice.
Arsenal re-launched their assault on the Premier League title as they edged out Tottenham Hotspur 2-1 in the hard-fought North London Derby. A Dominic Solanke own goal and a Leandro Trossard strike gave them the three points after they had fallen behind.
Manager Mikel Arteta termed his team’s persistence as “having the courage” and “trying to win. We are certainly still in contention for the championship.”
Arsenal won the match against Tottenham but lost in several occasions when they could have increased their lead advantage. The win for Arsenal brings the team within four points of League leaders Liverpool thus keeping the title up for grabs until the end.

The vice-captain said, “Crossing 400 is a huge milestone. It shows how far women’s cricket has come.” Openers Smriti Mandhana and Pratika Rawal played important innings, but aggressive batting from them set the tone for the entire match.
