1. Accused in Baba Siddique Murder Case Not a Minor, Bone Test Confirms

Dharmaraj Kashyap, one of the accused in the murder of NCP leader Baba Siddique was found to be an adult in a court-ordered bone ossification test. His lawyer had plea-bargained in his defense that Kashyap was a minor, which led to the test being conducted to establish his age. After the test, the accused was produced before a Mumbai court and put behind the police bars till October 21.

Meanwhile, with the probe still in progress, security has been heightened outside actor Salman Khan’s apartment, Galaxy Apartments, due to the apprehension that gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, whose name has surfaced in the case, can be a threat.

2. Details Emerge on How Baba Siddique Murder Was Planned

A killing allegedly masterminded by Mohammad Zeeshan Akhtar, who is said to have collaborated with the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, was reflected in the killing of NCP leader Baba Siddique. Akhtar, from Jalandhar, had come across associates of the gang during his detention in Patiala jail on organized crime charges. After his release, he shifted to Mumbai and ensured logistics from there for shooters involved in the murder of Siddique.

The attack happened close to the office of Siddique’s son in Bandra locality of Mumbai during Dussehra, a day when police presence was stronger. According to sources, Akhtar helped shooters by giving them information regarding Siddique’s location and accommodation particulars. To this day, the policeman is thought to be hiding in Mumbai, for which he is being pursued.

3. Kamala Harris Faces Declining Popularity, NBC Poll Shows Shocking Fall

Vice President Kamala Harris has watched her leads evaporate in a new NBC poll that reports her 5-point edge over former President Donald Trump is gone. According to a survey conducted in the last week of October, Harris and Trump are now even at 48% among registered voters-three weeks before Election Day. In the poll early this summer, Harris’s popularity soared when she took the reins of the Democratic campaign, but that gain has dissipated.

Democratic pollster Jeff Horwitt said, “As summer has turned to fall, any signs of momentum for Kamala Harris have stopped.” Harris’ rating of approval has also deteriorated, now coming in at 43% positive and 49% negative.  That is a sharp reversal from her earlier +3 net rating in September.  Independent voters and younger demographics—both crucial groups for Harris—are the biggest sources of this decline.

According to Republican pollster Bill McInturff, Trump has benefited from a reevaluation of his presidency, increasingly viewed as a change agent with Harris being viewed as an heir of the Biden administration.

4. Most Successful Indian Film in History Based on Inflation Adjustment: It’s Neither RRR nor Dangal

A film over six decades old, Mughal-e-Azam is the highest-grossing Indian movie ever, in real terms ₹4000 crore. K Asif’s 1960 epic has been described as the Indian classic of all time, having sold 15 crore tickets globally to garner a box office collection three times that of Jawan or RRR.

In the year 1960, Mughal e Azam had amassed a worldwide income of ₹11 crore. If we take an average ticket price of less than ₹1, that would be an enormous amount. Inflation-adjusted to today’s market, that amount would be ₹4000 crore. Tickets to Maratha Mandir in Mumbai were sold in black for ₹100, an amount translating to ₹9000 today.

That puts into perspective the tremendous success older films have in attracting far more audience members than modern blockbusters, which take in much higher ticket prices.

5. UP minister claims cleaning cowsheds can cure cancer, sparks controversy

In a contentious claim, UP Minister Sanjay Singh Gangwar has said that sitting in a cowshed and sweeping around it can help one get rid of cancer and petting the back of a cow might reduce blood pressure. Gangwar was speaking at the inauguration of Kanha Gaushala in Nougawa Pakadiya while asking everyone to go with the cow twice a day. He assured that on the tenth day itself, such gestures would reduce the medication of blood pressure.

Gangwar also spoke well of cow dung cakes and stated that if burnt, it could keep mosquitoes away. Most have critiqued the remarks as raising questions on the scientific approach he follows regarding this aspect of murder.

6. Cremator Helps Crack Double Murder Case Near Bengaluru

In an interesting turn of events, a crematorium worker played a key role in unraveling the murder of two children by their mother, Sweety, along with her boyfriend, Gregory Francis. The lovers are believed to have killed Sweety’s two children, Kabila (2 years), and Kabilan who was 11 months old, to conceal their affair.

For this, the police arrested the duo in which the cremation worker grew suspicious when he cremated two children in quick succession. He told the authorities so they began an investigation, which brought out that Sweety had physically assaulted the children and eventually took them to their death. The case has elicited much attention due to its horrific nature.

7. Bengaluru Man Criticises Swiggy Instamart for Adding Free Tomatoes to Order

Chandra Ramanujan, a Bengaluru-based product designer, was not happy about the free tomatoes included in his Swiggy Instamart order. They had been added to his order without asking him if he’d like to remove them. The dark pattern-which is actually the term coined for using design techniques that effectively manipulate the behavior of users- brought forth his angst.

Ramanujan shared a screenshot on X, where he showed that Swiggy Instamart automatically added 500 grams of tomatoes into his order, and he could not deselect it. At the same time, even though the tomatoes came free, he said this was a pretty sly and frustrating strategy from the users’ point of view.

8. India Suffers Another Heart Breaking Loss at the Hands of Australia, Harmanpreet Kaur Devastated

Harmanpreet Kaur will again go back heartbroken for the fourth time in two years. The India stalwart remained unbeaten with 54 runs in this white-ball game as well. India managed only nine runs short of Australia’s target of 152.

An Air India flight, from Mumbai to New York, was diverted to Delhi after a bomb threat call. The flight took off early this morning and has now been diverted to Indira Gandhi International Airport, where it is currently grounded.

All safety procedures were performed, and all the people on board had been evacuated. The police investigation showed there was a bomb threat to Mumbai airport through social media. Air India had reacted to that by diverting the flight. Air India now released a statement in order to prove that they show care for the well-being of their passengers and crew.
