In a historic development, JioStar, the combined entity created by the merger of Viacom18 and Star India, has launched JioHotstar, a new streaming platform that brings together the best of JioCinema and Disney+ Hotstar. With an incredible user base of more than 50 crore, JioHotstar is poised to become India’s biggest entertainment platform.
Current subscribers of both the platforms will have a smooth transition. JioCinema Premium customers will be migrated to JioHotstar Premium for the rest of the subscription period, and then they would require to subscribe to fresh plans. Disney+ Hotstar subscribers will be able to maintain their existing plans at prevailing rates for three months before they are migrated to the new platform.
JioStar Entertainment CEO Kevin Vaz promised users that the merger will provide better content and more entertainment choices. The JioHotstar app launch is imminent, ushering in a new dawn for India’s digital streaming industry.

In a shocking development, JPMorgan Chase has started cutting jobs across its offices, even after reporting record profits in 2024. The bank, which has more than 317,000 employees globally, intends to undertake a series of layoffs over 2025.
The initial round of job cuts, involving less than 1,000 staff, was announced on February 5, with further cuts planned for March, May, June, August, and September. The bank said the job cuts are a normal part of business realignments and will only affect a small percentage of staff.

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has barred Mumbai-based New India Co-operative Bank from issuing new loans or accepting fresh deposits for six months, citing supervisory concerns and liquidity issues.
