Pandemonium gripped central Israel when two drones launched from Lebanon attacked the city of Herzliya on October 11, which marked the holiest day of the year for Jews- Yom Kippur. The first drone hit a building, creating a fire and some damage, but no casualties had been reported. The Israeli military managed to shoot down one of the drones, although it is still unclear as to why the second one wasn’t intercepted.
But the attack came a day when traditionally Israel celebrated its Day of Atonement, and many might feel that developing security threats coming from the neighboring regions made many people nervous.
However, not only has the incident raised criticism about the ever-increasing use of drone warfare, but also brought back the question of the region’s upsurge in instability, especially with Hezbollah’s input from Lebanon.
Vasan Bhatt’s new film is called Jigra. Here, Alia Bhatt plays in the lead role. Along with the good news for Alia, it has also brought in an interesting fictional East Asian nation called Hanshi Dao, where laws are strict, and even cries or public laughter can bring a fine. Here, Satya fights desperately to save her brother Ankur, who is condemned to death for alleged drug trafficking in the new film.
Hanshi Dao is a fantasy, but its brutal government, that executes drug traffickers, in some weird way reminds of real countries that take drugs very seriously. Jigra, the island nation, is on the south side of Malaysia and not necessarily any existing country, but it takes inspiration from a few Southeastern Asian countries so infamous for their strict legal system. Chinese influence creates probable dystopian governance, making it all the more possible in real life.
Every year, most India celebrates Dussehra with burning Ravana’s effigy, while the residents of Bisrakh, a small village in Uttar Pradesh, sorrow over his death. While across the rest of the country, people identify Ravana as only an evil, villagers here regard him as a knowledgeable and devoted follower of Lord Shiva. They conduct prayer rituals for his soul as well, considering that after all he deserves reverence for his wisdom.
The village is said to be the hometown of Ravana, and the residents themselves claim to be his kins. During the Puja, they don’t celebrate traditional Dussehra celebrations like Ramlila nor burn any effigies due to fear that bad luck might follow. Instead, the local people pray to the Bisrakh Ravana Mandir, which houses a Shiva Linga put there for worship by nobody else but Ravana.
Mohammed Siraj, the young cricketer from Jammu and Kashmir, is on cloud nine both on and off the cricket field. The Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy honored such exceptional performances by giving the status of Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) to Siraj along with a 600-yard plot in the elite Jubilee Hills of Hyderabad.
This is following the brilliant show of Siraj at the T20 World Cup and ever-increasing strides as India’s leading fast bowler. Hailing from great turmoil of youth, Siraj now stands as an asset in all formats for the Indian cricket team, uplifting numerous young cricketers all over the country.

Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis are reportedly in plans to move to Europe in a bid to beat the controversy over their association with disgraced rapper Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs. Since his arrest on charges of sex trafficking and racketeering, many other A-list Hollywood celebrities including Ashton and Mila have been found in the limelight over their past connections with him.

The Test squad for India’s tour of New Zealand has ended the tour with eyebrows raised, courtesy Mohammed Shami’s exclusion. Shami, who was on a rehabilitation process after undergoing surgery following the 2023 ODI World Cup, could not make it to the squad as the selectors decided to go with an over-representation of spinners, considering the spin-friendly conditions in India.
That it is Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, and Akash Deep who are expected to spearhead the pace onslaught does give the management ample time to make Shami fit and fully available for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, though he is the most integral performer going for India. Even the reason cited behind his not being picked in the team is related to the fact that the board wants the team to play only a lot of spin and that there has still been no real move for him to return to the playing field.
