The deadline for updating Aadhaar cards issued more than a decade ago is inching closer, with September 14 being the last date for free updates. Thereafter, the Unique Identification Authority of India-UIDAI-will charge ₹ 50 plus taxes as fees for updating it. The process of updating will essentially mean Aadhaar Authentication wherein the user provides his/her Aadhaar number along with demographic or biometric information that needs to be verified by the Central Identities Data Repository (CIDR) of UIDAI.
