The National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) has issued a crucial update regarding FASTag KYC details. According to NHAI, it is imperative to update these details before the looming deadline of January 31. Interestingly, even in instances where there is a sufficient balance, banks will take strict action by deactivating or blacklisting all FASTags that have incomplete Know Your Customer (KYC) updates after January 31, 2024. This announcement underscores the significance of promptly ensuring KYC compliance to avoid potential disruptions in FASTag functionality.

What is FasTag?

FASTag is an electronic toll collection system designed to streamline toll payments on highways. This innovative system involves affixing a tag to the car’s windscreen, which is linked to either a bank account or a prepaid card. Utilizing RFID technology, the FASTag facilitates seamless toll transactions as the tagged vehicle approaches the toll booth. The scanner scans the tag and automatically deducts the toll amount, offering a more efficient and hassle-free toll-paying experience for motorists.

Updating your KYC for FASTag is a straightforward process. Here’s a step-by-step guide:

1. Visit the official FASTag website.
2. Log in with your mobile number and the OTP sent to your phone.
3. Navigate to the “My Profile” section on the homepage and click on the KYC tab.
4. Input all required details and click the submit button.
5. Your KYC update will be successfully completed.

To complete FASTag KYC, you need the following documents:

1. Vehicle Registration Certificate
2. Identity proof
3. Address proof
4. Passport-size photo

To verify your FASTag status, follow these steps:

1. Visit fastag.ihmcl.com
2. Click on the Login tab located at the top right of the page.
3. Log in using OTP and enter your registered mobile number.
4. Navigate to the My Profile section on the dashboard to view the KYC status of your FASTag.
